Week 17, Day 4 – Spring is in the air!
Winter is nearing the end of its seasonal run. I am sooo ready for springtime. The birds have started returning to the trees outside my window, and their song soothes me. Today, I went for a brisk 34-minute walk at lunchtime wearing only a light jacket over my clothing. It felt good to get some fresh air.
My energy is back. The pasta and cheeses of the few days in New York attending the funeral of my 38-year-old neice had bogged me down a bit. I’m not used to eating that way any more, thank goodness. What’s nice is that I don’t miss it.
It is so good to learn that I am no longer in the vice-like grip of heavy, carb-and-fat-laden, artery-clogging foods that once drew me like a moth to a flame. I only ordered it because it’s pretty typical of what I would normally have ordered while on a trip to New York. Even the bread didn’t grab me the way it used to. Two small dinner rolls were enough to satisfy me, where previously I’d eat whatever was in the basket, then ask for a refill.
It’s going to be a good week!
